HDR Photo Gallery
. . . Expressions of the Buffalo River Region
Although there is a sense in which the cameradoes indeed capture reality, not just interpret it, photographs are as much an interpretation of the world as paintings and drawings are.

This is my collection of HDR images with some notes about the setting and photo. It differs from the HDR Images & Notes section in that it is not about the technical side of arriving at the image. The gallery is about the location and conditions, with perhaps some attention to the motivation for using HDR methods. All the images in this collection are from my home ground in the Buffalo National River region in northwest Arkansas. Each image is linked to a larger image for closer viewing that will open up in a separate window.
Parker-Hickman Homestead, Buffalo National River #40,614
This is one of the pioneer homesteads preserved in the Buffalo National River. It is located in the Erbie area of the park, just past the campground. The HDR was shot just after sunrise. It is a three-exposure HDR. HDR enabled me to capture the long tonal scale of the photo. This has been a very popular image.
Fall Color at Big Bluff, Buffalo National River #47,697
Fall color is a great subject for HDR photography. This three-
exposure HDR was shot just east of Big Bluff, along the Old River Trail of the Buffalo National River. This image has a huge tonal scale. I tripoded for the exposures and was able to keep the detail in both the highlights and shadows using HDR.
